Yes, the drive becomes smaller, but I don't recall having lost too many MB.

I never had this problem. Did you mess with the mask and max tranfer settings
in HDInstTools?
I have Mask: 0x7FFFFFFF and Max Transfer: 0x00FFFFFF , but I think it depends
on each setup.
I had a few problems at the beggining with this settings but never had that
message...
Is the other drive you specified above working ok?
